"The Pont Neuf is the oldest and the most famous bridge in Paris.It dates from the end of the XVIth century, but in 1603, Henri IV ordered to continue the works.This bridge was the first without houses. At the extremity of the ile de la Cite, a little garden was called ""square du Vert-Galant"" in honour of the King Henri IV, its equestrian statue overhangs the bridge. This statue was designed by the sculptor Francois Lemot and dates from 1818."
